The potent strokes, those that are lithe and vigorous, hold immense sway. Four nimble strokes have descended into the hexagram from below and are poised to ascend higher. The upper trigram is Chên, the Stimulating; the lower is ch'ien, the Creative. Ch'ien is robust, Chên engenders motion. The fusion of dynamism and might embodies the essence of "THE POTENCY OF THE GREAT." This hexagram is associated with the second month (March-April).

The Judgment

The strength of the mighty endures. Persistence leads to success.

The hexagram signifies a moment when one's inner value surges with immense strength and takes control. However, this power has already surpassed the midpoint, leading to the risk of solely relying on oneself and disregarding what is ethical. Additionally, there is a danger of being too focused on progress and not waiting for the opportune moment. Therefore, it is crucial to persist in the pursuit of one's goals. True power lies in maintaining a connection with the principles of justice and morality, rather than resorting to brute force. Understanding the inseparable link between greatness and fairness is key to comprehending the events that occur in both the heavens and on earth.

The Image

The heavens roar with thunder, symbolizing the immense power of the universe. Therefore, a wise person does not stray from the path of order and harmony.

In the spring, "electrical energy" surges upward in the form of thunder, aligning with the movement of heaven and generating immense power. Yet, true greatness lies in being in harmony with what is just. Thus, during times of great power, the superior individual refrains from actions that disrupt the established order.
